Procedure for Religious Readiness and Children’s Liturgy

Children registered in Pre-School and Kindergarten classes will pick up their nametags in the atrium prior to the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday and wear them to church and to class.

Children in Pre-School, Kindergarten and grades 1 & 2 (Children's Liturgy of the Word) will sit with parents and join the assembly for the Introductory Rites of the Mass.  After the Opening Prayer, when the priest hands the Children's Lectionary to the Children's Liturgy of the Word Leader, these children will gather at the front of the church and follow the leader to the atrium.  Children in grades 1 & 2 will continue to the Chapel for a special Liturgy of the Word.  Pre-School and Kindergarten children will meet their teachers in the atrium who will escort them to classes in the lower level of the Parish Hall.  Parents are always invited to accompany their child if necessary.

While adults hear the Word proclaimed and reflect upon its meaning in their lives, the children will listen to God's Word and ponder its meaning but in a way best suited to their abilities and interests.

After the homily, children attending Children's Liturgy of the Word will return to the church and sit with their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.  After Mass, Pre-School and Kindergarten children are to be picked up at their classrooms by a parent or guardian.
